The intramedullary expand self-locking nail for the treatment of non-union of the old femoral shaft fractures in 11 cases

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical application of intramedullary expand self-locking nail(ISEN) in the treatment of non-union of the old femoral shaft fracture.Methods The ISENs and bone graft were used to treat 11 patients with non-union of the old femoral shaft fractures.Results All cases were followed up for 6~24 months.11 cases had union in 8~21 months,average 13.5 months.According to Kolmert scoring system,the results were excellent in 5 cases,good in 5,and fair in 1.Conclusions ISEN is good in the treatment of old femoral shaft fracture,which provides solid fixation,minimum impairment to local circulation,early functional exercise.
