Abstract
Im Zeitalter ausgefeilter interner Implantate und Versorgungstechniken ist die Indikation zum Fixateur externe als alleiniges oder additives Osteosyntheseverfahren auch für die Frakturen der proximalen Tibia zu hinterfragen. Seine wesentlichen Vorteile sehen wir dabei in der Weichteilprotektion, der einfachen Ausbaufähigkeit zwecks temporärer Ruhigstellung angrenzender Gelenke und als additiver Stabilisator bei metaphysärer Trümmerzone.
