Whole Disease Procedure Teaching Methods on Medical Students’ “Clinical Basic Nursing Technology” in Clinical Trainee

Abstract

Background: The demand for medical students to master the clinical basic nursing technology is the rise in recent years in China. There have been no previous studies exploring how nursing teachers teach medical students, the whole disease procedure teaching methods of medical student's reports are rare in China. Objective: To explore the whole disease procedure teaching methods on medical students’ “clinical basic nursing technology” in clinical trainee. Methods: Randomized controlled study. A total of 80 medical students were randomly and equally divided into the experimental group and control group of 40 for each for “clinical basic nursing technology ”clinical trainee in 2014 in our hospital. The standardized clinical trainee pathway was applied in the control group. The experimental group carried out the teaching on the basis of standardized clinical trainee pathway combined with the whole disease procedure teaching. Compared two groups of medical students’ theory score and operating score, overall quality when the trainee was over, and evaluated medical student's interest of two teaching methods. Results: The experimental group medical students’ theory score and operating score is significantly higher than the control group (P < 0.05), two groups of medical students’ overall quality evaluation results were not statistically significant (P > 0.05), the experimental group medical students’ learning interest was better than control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Using whole disease procedure teaching methods on medical students’ “clinical basic nursing technology ”in clinical trainee can improve the medical students clinical thinking and the ability to analyze problems, help the medical students understand and master clinical basic nursing technology, strengthen the medical students knowledge of the whole nursing work, promote the medical cooperation, and help students to establish good professional attitude and improve comprehensive qualities.
