Abstract
This chapter focusses on the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and treatment of patient. The core themes to be addressed include the following: • Who is responsible when things go wrong? • Is the addition of AI to treatment teams ethically appropriate? • What happens when we take 'humanity' out of the diagnosis and treatment equation? • How can this interaction be appropriately regulated? This Chapter sounds a cautionary note about the introduction of AI in medical treatment but supports such advancements, the main theme of the chapter is the need to take care with this introduction and to ensure that an appropriate regulatory framework be devised.
