Abstract
the world of academic writing and publishing has witnessed significant advancements in artificial intelligence (ai) technology. One such development is the release of ChatGPT to the public at the end of November 2022.Researchers worldwide have been exploring the potential of using large language modeling ai to automatically generate text in response to user prompts. In just the first 5 days after its launch, ChatGPT amassed one million users (Marr, 2023), and within 2 months it reported over 100 million monthly active users (Hu, 2023).This number is expected to continue to grow as more and more people discover ways to utilize this tool and others like it to simplify various daily tasks.Although initially prohibited from use in some schools and education systems (Elsen-Rooney, 2023), educators worldwide have been exploring how to incorporate tools like ChatGPT into their teaching practices, including developing lesson plans and creating assessments for student learning. This has contributed to increased debate about the benefits and perils of using ai in education.
