Abstract
This review aims to explore the potential applications, challenges and strategies of ChatGPT, a Large Scale Language Model (LLM), in medical education. ChatGPT offers a variety of applications for medical education. With its ability to generate exercises, quizzes, and scenarios, ChatGPT can help students practice and evaluate their understanding of medical concepts, making complex material more accessible. It can also help teachers in create medical question banks, validate answers, categorize questions, and personalizing the bank. ChatGPT can generate real patient cases for students to practice their diagnostic and problem-solving skills. It can even automate the grading and assessment of assignments, exams, and papers, allowing teachers to focus on other aspects of medical education. These include the accuracy and reliability of the information provided, potential language barriers, ethical considerations regarding patient privacy. The accuracy and reliability of ChatGPT responses should be carefully assessed and their limitations in understanding medical terminology and context should be addressed. ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize medical education by providing personalized, time-saving, and accurate support to both medical students and teachers. This review provides valuable insights into the use of ChatGPT in medical education and emphasizes the challenges and strategies for using ChatGPT. This will help to further expand the use of AI in medical education.
