Abstract

Objectives: the study aims to define the technological procedures in Health Information Systems to improve information management and optimize decision-making in the healthcare sector. It seeks to establish a conceptual framework that enables professionals to fully leverage available technological tools. Methods: a qualitative documentary analysis of scientific literature related to health technology and information systems was conducted. Theoretical methods such as historical-logical and analytical-synthetic approaches were employed, utilizing tools like Rayyan and Semantic Scholar for the selection of 41 relevant sources, including articles, books, and reports. Results: the review identified that health information systems are crucial for decision-making, with key functions including data generation, collection, analysis, and communication. Improvements in service quality due to advanced technology implementation were highlighted, alongside the need for adequate infrastructures in national health systems. Organizational obstacles limiting the acceptance of new technologies were also identified. Conclusions: a definition of technological procedures is essential for enhancing competitiveness in the health sector. These procedures must be flexible and adaptable to the healthcare environment's needs, ensuring efficient information management that supports operational and strategic decisions. Continuous training of professionals in this field is vital to address current challenges in healthcare.
