Abstract
Technological advances have changed disease diagnosis in clinical medicine, making it more accurate, effective, and wide-ranging. New molecular diagnostics, advanced imaging, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools are ushering in a new era of precision medicine. As technology keeps growing, the future of diagnostics could see giant leaps that will boost patient outcomes and shake up healthcare delivery. Diagnostic procedures in traditional healthcare settings usually involve manual processing followed by expert advice. Furthermore, the development of the innovations of wearables and remote monitoring tools allows patients to be actively involved in their healthcare. These tools provide patients with information in real time, viz., their vital signs and other health factors. This capability helps in the earlier discovery of emerging health concerns and the provision of early medical intervention. Both diagnostic tools and treatment methods have been greatly improved by technological advancements, which have had a dramatic impact on clinical practice. The chapter looks at how technology progress impacts different areas of clinical medicine, such as AI and machine learning (ML), big data and data analytics, wearable tech, telemedicine, genomics, and personalized medicine. It also highlights the ongoing challenges that need to be addressed. Furthermore, it emphasizes the persistent obstacles that require resolution.
