Developing Multidisciplinary Talent for the AI Industry: Key Factors and Strategies

Abstract

With the growth of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry, the demand for skilled professionals in the labor market has increased significantly.AI achieves higher levels of sophistication as a general-purpose technology by integrating domain knowledge from various technologies and industries.Therefore, fostering multidisciplinary talent capable of combining diverse knowledge and experiences is essential.This study employs Focused Group Interviews (FGI), the Delphi method, and expert workshops to identify priority factors for cultivating such talent.The findings indicate that training specialists in talent development are the most critical factor in nurturing multidisciplinary professionals.The development of new learning methods and skill training emerged as subsequent priorities.Since multidisciplinary talent development requires entirely new approaches to training and education, cultivating experts who can lead this process is urgent.Developing skilled professionals for the AI industry is a long-term effort.Therefore, policies must emphasize shared values in talent development.These policies should also ensure the implementation of consistent training methods across different career stages.To advance the future of the AI industry, this study suggests the need to overcome the limitations of existing workforce development frameworks and adopt a multidisciplinary talent development strategy that fosters creativity and integrative capabilities.To enhance the feasibility of the techniques, it is essential to raise awareness about the importance of fostering talent development experts, specify methods for doing so, and facilitate communication with policymakers and stakeholders.Additionally, subsequent policy research should be conducted.
