Abstract
Background: The present study was conducted to analyze the undergraduate Pharmacy students' understanding and utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in their studies. Methods: An online survey was conducted with 1st year to final year pharmacy students at two different Universities of Karachi, Pakistan, assessing their AI knowledge, perception and literacy regarding its appropriate use. Data were analyzed descriptively by SPSS version 25. Results: A total of 312 students participated, belongs to age bracket of 18-24 years, majority of them were resident of district east and spoke Urdu language. Among them 23% proficient in computer literacy and 46.2% students always use computer for their learning. 12% got proper training for artificial Intelligence. Over 56.4% strongly agreed that AI will affect the job opportunities. More than fifty percent of the participants felt that the health care facilities in Pakistanis are not synchronize with the upcoming challenges of AI, and the students of medical and allied health sciences should focus to learn the AI tools and technology. Conclusion: Healthcare challenges concerning manpower and limited resources may be resolved by the methodical application of AI in Pakistan's healthcare system. One helpful first step is to include AI and machine learning-related topics in medical curricula.
