The Role of Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT) in Orthopaedics Surgery

Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing in the medical field, especially in orthopedics surgery. Practical applications in orthopedic surgery include diagnostics such as early detection of fractures and tumors in bones, calculating mortality rates and length of hospital stay, monitoring rehabilitation, and surgical training. However, doctors must keep in mind the limitations of AI as the development of robust reporting and validation frameworks is paramount to prevent avoidable errors and biases. This review article aims to comprehensively understand AI and its subfields and delineate its clinical applications in trauma and orthopedic surgery. Furthermore, this narrative review expands upon the limitations of AI and future direction.
