Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence to Guide Nurse Educator Students

Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has swept academia by storm. Nurse educators are exploring creative uses for AI to enhance student learning, including promoting critical thinking through AI-generated case studies,1 incorporating AI into simulations,2 and increasing faculty efficiency through AI-enriched composition.3 However, a lack of documentation exists on using AI to enhance the learning experiences of graduate nursing students, particularly in the context of nursing education courses. Given the rising faculty shortage and the scarcity of clinical teaching practicum opportunities for graduate students, nurse educators should explore novel approaches to educate the next generation of nurse faculty. This article describes how ChatGPT, a generative AI chatbot launched in November 2022, was used in a graduate nursing education course to enhance student competencies for effective clinical teaching.
