Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence into medicine is creating a gap between technological advancements and the training of healthcare professionals. There is a documented lack of standardized content on Artificial Intelligence in the undergraduate curricula of medical sciences. The objective is to design a proposal for undergraduate course content for the Santiago de Cuba University of Medical Sciences that integrates cognitive, instrumental, and axiological elements. Research was conducted at the Santiago de Cuba University of Medical Sciences with students from various majors during the 2024-2025 academic year. Theoretical methods such as analysis-synthesis and empirical methods such as bibliographic review, surveys, structured interviews, and observation were used. The development of a content proposal is based on a critical analysis of current teaching practice, starting from the use of Artificial Intelligence tools, with an interdisciplinary approach. In conclusion, the implementation of a structured AI course significantly improves the digital competence of medical students. These results support the formal and urgent integration of artificial intelligence content into the undergraduate curriculum to train professionals prepared for future medical practice.
