Abstract

Biomedical robotics is a cutting-edge field in healthcare innovation that offers never-before-seen capabilities for treating patients, diagnosing conditions, and delivering therapy. This chapter explores the applications of robots in various medical fields, highlighting advancements, uses, and potential future developments. It further examines the elements of biomedical robots, specifically surgical robots, rehabilitation apparatuses, and diagnostic machines, focusing on their accuracy, efficacy, and capacity to enhance therapeutic outcomes. The analysis also discusses the challenges of biomedical robotics, including the high cost, limited advanced technology, and concerns regarding ethics. Additionally, the contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhancing medical robot performance and agility is discussed, demonstrating the robots’ ability to acquire knowledge from large datasets and improve decision-making. The effectiveness and safety of these advancements are empirically shown through the examination of research studies and clinical trials. Future advances are also being investigated, including the potential for robotic devices with advanced sensory capabilities and tiny robots for targeted medicine administration. The examination includes a review of case studies and clinical trials to provide empirical evidence of the efficacy and safety of these technologies. The present study highlights the significance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in the progress of biomedical robotics.
