Abstract
Dementia is a growing health challenge worldwide. It significantly impacts individuals, families, and healthcare systems. Traditional approaches to dementia care often fall short in addressing the unique and evolving needs of each patient. This chapter explores using digital twins (DTs) and their potential to enhance precision and personalization in dementia care. By creating dynamic virtual models of patients, DTs can simulate disease progression, predict treatment outcomes, and tailor interventions to individual needs. The proposed solution integrates patient data, performs cohort matching, and provides personalized and evidence-based recommendations. The research question addressed in this chapter is: How might the concept of DTs be used to enhance precision and personalization of dementia care? This chapter highlights the potential of DTs in improving dementia care and quality of life for patients. The proposed solution and the approach followed may have broader implications for other chronic diseases as well, going beyond dementia.
