Abstract

Data Science is fast becoming a revolutionary field, which requires reviewing pedagogical strategies and curriculum development to accommodate the demands of Big Data and high-level analytics. The application of data science has gained importance in the healthcare industry of India because with the increasing rates of the digital health record, telemedicine, insurance databases, and data that are produced by the IoT-based medical devices, the necessity to integrate data science into the industry has exponentially increased. Although this has expanded, lack of a standardized educational system to train the data scientists is a critical challenge. An integrated teaching model is needed to prepare a community of professionals in the future with the capabilities necessary to manage healthcare data in large quantities, both structured and unstructured, process, analyze, and integrate. This paper underlines the potential role of data science in transforming Indian health care through data-driven transformation, clinical decision making, better patient outcomes, and optimized use of resources in the public and private systems. In India, where the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and building electronic health infrastructure efforts are currently being implemented by the government, there is a viable prospect to implement uniform data science education. The paper emphasizes the need to have academic institutions, policymakers, and healthcare organizations collaborate to build one successful educational program that bridges the knowledge gap and gives rise to sustainable and data-driven healthcare change in India.
