Abstract
The purpose of this article was to analyze the impact of telemedicine and chatbots on the comprehensive care of older adults, particularly in rural areas with limited access to medical services. It explored how these digital tools have transformed geriatric care by improving accessibility, facilitating remote monitoring of chronic diseases, and reducing the need for in-person visits. The argumentative development focused on the operational and emotional benefits of these technologies. Their ability to mitigate social isolation, anxiety, and depression was highlighted, as well as their role in promoting digital inclusion and strengthening support networks. However, significant obstacles were acknowledged, such as low technological literacy, limited access to devices, and economic and cultural inequalities that hindered their adoption. The study also addressed the shortage of professionals specialized in geriatrics and gerontology, as well as the ethical dilemmas related to confidentiality, autonomy, and bioethical training. The conclusions emphasized the need to invest in continuous education and the development of accessible technologies, recognizing that the success of these innovations depends on inclusive policies, adequate infrastructure, and equitable access. It was underscored that the effective implementation of telemedicine and chatbots presents an opportunity to transform the healthcare model, promoting active, dignified, and person-centered aging. This approach integrates technical efficiency, human sensitivity, and ethical commitment as pillars of sustainable gerontogeriatric care.
