Abstract
The Hoolock gibbon is a arboreal, monogamous and territoreal ape.Hoolock gibbons are the only apes found in India, having two subspecies : western hoolock and eastern hoolock gibbon .They are primarily frugivorous in nature.Gibbons are very effective seed disperser.Having fruits as their major diet they ingest seed with the fruit which rarely digest and comes out with excreta.In favourable condition seed germinate and helps in maintaing forest biodiversity.
