Abstract
The use of artificial intelligence is gaining more and more ground in higher education. Our paper explores the possibilities of applying AI tools in teaching and learning, as well as addresses the dangers and ethical issues of their use. It presents the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among 120 first-year engineering students, the aim of which was to explore the students’ habits regarding the application of artificial intelligence. The research results drew attention to the fact that respondents primarily use AI solutions for information gathering and research, and that the majority of respondents consider the use of AI in learning and completing assignments to be ethical. Our research results also pointed out how AI tools can support teaching and learning processes, how learning through AI solutions can be effective, and that an important task of higher education is to increase the ethical awareness of students and faculty members.
