Abstract
This paper comprehensively examines the aspects of using the latest AI assistants in scientific publishing. The intermediate results of the introduction of generative artificial intelligence into the activities of researchers are evaluated, and the possible functions of AI at different levels-stages of the publication process - are described.: author, editor, reviewer, etc. The existing specialized tools based on generative artificial intelligence, the potential for increasing efficiency/reducing the time of the editorial and publishing cycle and their limitations are considered. The analysis of international AI regulatory practices in scientific publishing and the state of regulation in Russia is carried out. It is concluded that there are two main interrelated groups of socio-humanitarian aspects and risks: ethical and epistemological; as well as the secondary and non-unique nature of potential AI problems in science, primarily related to ignoring scientific ethos, principles of integrity and responsibility.
