Abstract
Abstract Introduction: This study investigates the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools by postgraduate students for project reports, dissertations, and research paper writing. It highlights the rationale for exploring this trend, focusing on the benefits and ethical challenges faced by students in the digital age. Review of Literature: A review of global and Indian research shows widespread adoption of AI tools in higher education. Most Indian studies emphasize grammar and plagiarism tools, but there is limited research on ethical issues and their impact on research quality. Research Methodology: The research uses a descriptive and analytical approach, strictly following a conceptual model. Data was collected from 127 PG students in Pune using a structured questionnaire. Statistical methods such as correlation, regression, and SEM were applied to analyze the relationships between AI tool usage, ethical concerns, and academic outcomes. Results: Findings reveal high AI tool usage among students, with positive effects on project quality. However, significant ethical concerns exist, especially regarding plagiarism and originality. The model was validated using SEM and path analysis, confirming the hypothesized relationships. Discussion, Findings, and Conclusion: The discussion explains the tested hypotheses and interprets the significance of the conceptual model. The study recommends ethical AI usage training, institutional guidelines, and ongoing support for students. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of balancing digital innovation with academic integrity for better educational outcomes.
