Abstract
This concept article provides the shared theoretical backbone for AI-enabled healthcare simulation by integrating theories from education, psychology, simulation science, engineering, ethics, and artificial intelligence (AI). It clarifies why AI might support—or undermine—learning, performance, and assessment, and explains how simulation offers a structured, safe environment in which AI tools can be tested, refined, and governed. The article establishes a common theoretical foundation to guide interpretation, critique, and application across the AI and healthcare simulation.
