Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the landscape of higher education in an unprecedented manner. While many institutions of higher learning have not fully adopted AI into its infrastructure, faculty and students have begun to embrace the value it can bring into the teaching and learning environment. To successfully incorporate AI into educational practices, faculty and students must have access to the tools necessary to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to navigate its use in a safe and ethical manner. Drawing on the ten value-based commitments presented within ACCELERATE: Assessment Principles of Best Practice, this manuscript will examine how AI technologies can be leveraged to enhance assessment processes and outcomes. This manuscript will also explore how AI can support and extend assessment principles, ensuring practices remain relevant, equitable, and impactful in service of learning and organizational success.
